Hello and welcome. It is an article which is GREATLY needed. At the very least I think it is. I began wearing makeup around the age of 14 and whenever I started, it absolutely was the WRONG shade for my complexion. So! I am attempting to speak out for the Beautiful, Brown-Skinned Black Women that have as hard a period of time finding makeup when i do. So, let me supply you with a little background on me.
Firstly, Black is beautiful, and also the darker the berry the sweeter the juice! That being said, at 14 I was a bit blackberry without a clue. Initially when i first started wearing makeup it was actually just lipstick and yes it started being my mom’s Fashion Fair. My mother that is light-skinned and contains a daughter who seems to be dark-skinned. Needless to say her lipstick did NOT match at all. I found myself even termed as a dark-skinned Ronald McDonald by way of a previous ex-boyfriend!
So, I believe that us brown-skinned and dark-skinned women need a little extra help as it is more challenging for people like us to get make-up which fits in drugstores, or makeup on dark skin which is affordable. Plus Cosmo and Glamour as well as them often be referring to great make-up for spring, but uh, hello do you forget black girls like make-up for spring too? So, I feel your pain. I am a self-appointed makeup aficionado, and would like to offer my experiences in addition to some items that are FABO and not so much fabo. So… without further ado, let’s begin!
JUST AN FYI: These are generally all make-ups that I have gotten to work with through experimentation and so i am sharing from EXPERIENCE!
FACE: I fight to look for a foundation, and full-coverage makeup that is affordable so below are a few wonderful finds which i have found which can be both.
1-Cover Girl Queen Collection Natural Hue Liquid Foundation- Spicy Brown
PROS- it is actually efficient at matching skin color which may have yellow or red undertones, spreads easily and when you simply need moderate coverage gives you an effective value for your money. It really is affordable ranging about 6-8 bucks, and you may believe it is in the majority of drugstores, and food markets.
CONS- When you have dark spots and blemishes, this may NOT give you the coverage you require! Not close, okay? Additionally, it wears off quickly so you would need to reapply often. The bottle is upside down with some spout, when you pour out a lot of, you cannot put it in the bottle and then in these periods of financial crisis er’ tiny bit counts am I right ladies?!
Also, if you have troubles matching your skin layer tone as you have BOTH yellow and red, or perhaps blue and red undertones, this collection might not be to suit your needs because there is not much of a vast selection to pick from, so you might should move ahead. Other shades that are good for brown-skinned to dark-skinned gals, plus some of you fellas! Rich Mink, Sheer Espresso, and True Ebony.
2- Cover Girl Queen Collection Natural Hue Compact Foundation
PROS-It will provide you with more coverage in comparison to the Liquid Foundation. That’s it. That’s about all I will imagine.
CONS-Unfortunately, it rubs off QUITE quickly. Also, it is tinted slightly differently than the liquid foundation therefore i thought it was harder to suit my complexion. Also, when it was warm outside it wipes RIGHT off, and revealed every blemish on my own face! LOL, it also wipes off in your clothes, stains the hands, the complete bit. It’s moderately priced too, so if you wish to look nice to get a date at night, going somewhere cool, it’s a brief fix, but I wouldn’t put it on on the club, or even a carnival, anywhere that might be warm, or sweaty. It can be purchased in the same.
3- Black Opal True Color Liquid Foundation – Black Walnut
PROS-Awesome Coverage. There is a reasonably bit in the bottle so it will last you a good while. It is really an upright standing bottle by using a generous opening, when you pour out too much, it won’t be too difficult to have into the bottle, to help you SAVE, SAVE, SAVE! I wear foundation daily, sometimes wash my face and re-apply if heading out that night, and also this bottle lasts me regarding a good two months or so. You will recognize that it ranges from about 8-12 bucks… based on your geographical area. So it is a great buy.
CONS- When you have combination to oily skin, WEAR POWDER, while keeping it along! Through these upcoming warm to hot days, you may look really greasy inside the face. But when you continue Blotters along, or powders, you have to be okay. Also, it may be that MY skin changes, in case that is the situation disregard, having said that i learn that as i visit buy a replacement, the shade may not match like the previous one, so be mindful of that.
Another con is that Black Opal Products can be a little harder to find in stores than other products which I mention. I don’t determine if it’s that they’re not really that popular, or what, but whenever I look Normally i see them either in Rite-Aid, or CVS. So, happy hunting. Other colors great for brown-skinned girls… Carob, Suede Mocha, and Ebony Brown….. And then for you borderline caramel to brown-skin girls, Hazelnut!
4-Maybelline Pure Make-Up (Shine Free Foundation with H2O) – Cocoa (Dark 3)
PROS- Very reasonable, simple to find. Positioned in Most drugstores, supermarkets, Wal-Mart. Costs range about 5.99-10 bucks, based on your region. Full coverage, doesn’t clog your pores, spreads easily.
CONS-Upside down tube, so you should be exact about how exactly much is essential for the face, cause if you use excessive… it can go to waste. Limited colors for darker skin color. They only have THREE shades for females of the color. Dark 1- Tan, Dark 2- Caramel, and Dark 3-Cocoa. I have used the Cocoa. It is actually far too dark for my skin-tone.
However, the Caramel Dark 2 is too light. So, when you are pressed for money and don’t have enough cash to experiment, I wouldn’t waste my time for this product. They have FIVE shades dedicated to light, FOUR for medium and merely three for people darkies??!!! Leave this device alone, unless you happen to match EXACTLY. Good luck evading the lady who tries to watch you once you try to sample the items from the store!
5- Black Radiance Color Perfect Oil Free Liquid Makeup- Cocoa Bean
PROS-Very affordable! VERY! Somewhat accessible. Costs about 5.99-10 bucks, and you can find it in a number of Beauty Supply stores, CVS carries it. Spreads evenly, good coverage, get a great deal for your buck. Also, will come in a jar by having an open spout, when you have a lot of, it is possible to use it in there. Provides you with a fantastic matte finish.
CONS- Cocoa Bean will not match my skin tone! Nevertheless I likewise have strange undertones occurring with my skin, so that might be why it really is so hard to fit. Whenever you apply this makeup it dries another color, it’s crazy. There’s this… weird… applicator thingy, uncertain how to handle it, however it just got during my way basically. Says it is perfect for all kinds of skin, however i have very sensitive skin in my face, and that i found that within 30 minutes my face was suffocating and i also necessary to wash it off. Other shades to try out are Brownie and Mocha Honey.
6- L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Make-Up- Nut Brown
PROS-Oh my goodness you guys this make-up was awesome! Spread really, excellent! Matches wonderfully to get a yellow undertone. Does indeed a brown-skinned girl justice. Light, which means that your skin can breathe. Good coverage for girls with blemishes. Pretty readily available, and I state that with hesitance, because 7 times from 10 they may carry all Nevertheless the shades for brown-skinned. Um, I locate them at Wal-Mart, Walgreens..and that’s basically it.
CONS- This product has SPF and I am VERY allergic to sun block so that it broke me out something terrible. Type of hard to find. It’s a little more expensive in comparison to the previous products mentioned. MMM, I would personally say about 10.99 or higher. You might be able to discover it available for sale. Also, there may be not a whole lot within the bottle, so use sparingly provided you can. Other shades to test…. Soft Sable and Cocoa.
7- Revlon Color Stay Makeup with Soft Flex – Mahogany
PROS- Pretty readily available in most drugstores. Colors are perfect for brown-skinned girls. Type of affordable. A little on the high end but about 9.99-12.99 with this product. The coverage is okay… Not the very best, but if you are looking for light to moderate coverage this is a great product.
CONS- Now, I stumbled upon that Mahogany did not match my undertones that great. I realize…. Again using the undertones. It dried and made my skin look a bit grayish and chalky. There is 58deyypky really a good selection to pick from for darker skin color. Has SPF6, bad for me, but good for everyone who is not allergic. Also, again, in the event you don’t hold the undertone problem…. Other shades to try… Cappuccino and Mocha.
And then finally but Definitely not least…
8- Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse – Cocoa (Dark 3)
PROS- OH MY GOSH…… loving this system!! (sing song voice) here is the current comprise I am just using now! It def does what the commercial says. It covers your pores, and provides that you simply great finish! Maximum coverage! Need NO concealer, well… maybe a little bit, nevertheless i don’t use any. It is very affordable, from about 7-10 bucks. I discovered it right at the Kroger supermarket, so it should be offered at most drug stores. It features a nifty little nozzle that squirts out and it’s really convenient. Also, it is whipped feeling, and i also apply with my fingers.
It really glides right on, and begins covering my pores and brown spots, and its particular not too heavy, I don’t have to put on a bunch. The very best also comes off, so if I over-squirt, I will use it right back into the bottle. There’s lots within the bottle, and also you don’t need to use a great deal for coverage. I feel I purchased this bottle per month ago and so i continue to have a little more than half a bottle left. It’s great! I love it. Hopefully this is the conclusion from the road for me, but usually it isn’t!
